NG Tunnelling Sewage Connection in Birmingham

We also undertake sewer connection works outside of London. Here's a recent timber heading project we completed in Birmingham, connecting a site shaft to an existing manhole in the carriageway.

Scope of works

The project involved connecting a site shaft to an existing manhole located in the carriageway. The works included installation of 14 metres of 150mm storm pipe, with the full installation CCTV surveyed and air tested on completion.

14m of 150mm storm pipe

14 metres of 150mm storm pipe was installed to connect the site shaft through to the existing carriageway manhole. Storm drainage connections into live carriageway manholes require careful coordination with the highway authority and precise execution to avoid disruption to the existing network.

CCTV survey and air testing

On completion, the pipework was CCTV surveyed to confirm the condition and alignment of the installation, and air tested to verify the integrity of every joint along the run. Both tests confirmed that the pipe run was installed to the required standard.

Severn Trent sign-off

The completed works were inspected and signed off by Severn Trent, confirming that the installation met all required standards and was approved for connection into the existing storm drainage network
