NG Tunnelling Ltd recently completed a specialist timber heading project beneath Victoria Street, one of the most densely congested and logistically challenging areas in central London. Operating in such a high-traffic urban environment requires precise planning, expert execution, and strict adherence to safety protocols—something our experienced team delivered at every stage of this project.
The timber heading extended approximately 20 metres and was carefully engineered to navigate existing underground infrastructure. As the heading approached the main sewer line, our team implemented a controlled step-down to safely clear an existing gas main. This critical adjustment ensured the integrity of surrounding utilities while maintaining progress on the installation.
Following the successful excavation, 300mm pipework was installed and connected, before being laid back to site in line with project specifications. The works were completed efficiently and safely, demonstrating NG Tunnelling Ltd’s capability in delivering complex underground solutions within constrained urban environments.
This project highlights our expertise in timber heading techniques and our ability to overcome the challenges posed by existing services and restricted access in central London.
